Giving and engagement ring is an old custom that can be found in many cultures. The round structure of the ring symbolizes the family circle that is about to be formed and the ring on the finger is a sign of possession the couple has over one another.

There are many kinds of engagement rings and it is all a matter of how much the husband can and is willing to invest.

Prices vary from a couple of hundred of dollars to couple of thousands. The average price is around one thousand dollars and it includes 14 K gold and a diamond weight of 1/2 carat.

There are a few tips I can give a future husband who faces the need to buy an engagement ring:

1) Its not the price of the ring that matters but the taste of your wife. She has to love the design.

2) If you are going to invest so much money, make sure you buy the ring in a good and established place where you can get guarantee for the gold and diamonds. There are many frauds in this field.

3) I would recommend that a couple of days before the purchase, you "steal" one your fiancé's rings so you can come to the jewelry store with exact measures for the ring.

Cultured pearls

Cultured pearls are pearls that are manufactured artificially. Growers use oysters and are able to monitor the process to the extent of producing perfect pearls in terms of colors and mainly shape.

It is indeed blessed technology because it enables to produce a great number of pearls and their price, thus, is lower siginificantly. In the past (100 year ago) pearls could be only be afforded by rich women and they were a symbol of status. Today, in contrast, pearls have become more widespread as more and more woman, not necessarily rich, can wear them. Technology helps the beautification of females!!! And that is great.
On the other hand, if you ask me, I still prefer the natural pearls. They are far more expensive, but you can really tell the difference between a pearl made in a factory and an exotic pearl taken out of the deep sea
